Is the term war hero misleading?

When you think of war hero's you think of George Washington leading a dedicated group of men to victory over a stronger and better equipped army or U S Grant leading the union army to victory over the confederates. Not some one who was shot down a few times and captured. Don't get me wrong anyone who has ever served his country is true PATRIOT and deserving of special Gratitude but a hero is usually some one that has done more than serve.
