Why do people think its ok to gawk and drool over people just because "its 2008 not 1890"?

I believe people should judge others based on their morality, standards how interesting and thought provoking they are, if they are kind and good-willed and should pursue relationships from these roots... It seems today many people simply drool over other people like fat hunks of meat that are there to visually please and play off of our lesser instinctual desires that bring superficial shallow feelings of physical attraction.... Honestly I know people need some level of attraction at some point... yet I even come to question that after considering one thing.. I found an article on it... and no Im not gay its the philosophy behind this that raises questions about love in general I am talking about... I am sorry but it just disgusts me to see people checking other people out and then blaming it on hormones and then simply dismissing any criticism with "its 2008 not 1890" or something like that. If I heard one more girl talking about how ripped someone is with blatant lack of self control drooling stupidly or some dumb guy talking about what a nice *** or some random girl has I swear.... It's very frustrating... I don't know exactly why it bothers me that much but what can I say, any opinions on why it bothers me so much... feel free to psychoyze! :D Thanks..
